Traffic Department Warns Against “Distractions” While Driving and Sudden Lane Changes

Al-Taj News – Traffic Operations Room Officer Captain Musab Al-Maraiyat warned drivers against using “distractions” while driving or changing lanes suddenly, calling on them to comply with traffic rules and right-of-way priorities and to give priority to those entitled to it.

Al-Maraiyat told Al-Mamlaka on Sunday that using things that distract the driver’s attention while driving is a major cause of accidents, and that a vehicle driver may lose control of the vehicle when faced with any obstacle, regardless of its speed.

Distractions while driving include using a mobile phone, sending messages or browsing applications, being occupied with adjusting navigation systems or vehicle devices, eating and drinking, turning toward passengers, or any other activity that diverts the driver’s eyes or concentration from the road.

He added that drivers must remain in their lanes and avoid changing lanes suddenly, as well as refrain from parking or stopping at vital locations and on roads where stopping could obstruct traffic.

He called on citizens to report any traffic-related observations through the “Sanad” application, noting that the Traffic Department handles them in accordance with the law and with complete confidentiality.
